Louisiana: Improving Health Information Exchange Post-Katrina

“While it appears the social, economic and environmental reverberations of Hurricane Katrina will continue throughout our lifetimes, the reverberations from a health care IT perspective—however small they may seem in the context of the overall human disaster—are promising. Should those IT developments continue on course, they could help improve the quality and efficiency of care for citizens in the Gulf states and prevent similar suffering in future emergencies.”
