Meaningful Use Hearing Marks Start of ‘Very Important Process’

“Dozens of physicians, government officials and industry leaders gathered in Washington, D.C., recently for a two-day public hearing to begin what promises to be a long, careful process of defining “meaningful use” of electronic health records.
Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, U.S. health care providers will qualify for financial incentives, including increased reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid, if they show meaningful use of health information technology.”
