Why Banks Beat Healthcare in Interop

“Over the past year, I’ve heard the frequent comment that banks successfully deployed interoperability over 10 years ago, but the healthcare industry lags far behind. Often the comment is followed up with a statement that we can go to any bank and they can instantly access our financial information, but each physician I go to has to manually fax documentation back and forth. The banking industry is one of the most conservative in our society; healthcare can do better than banks, right?”
