E-health vital to rural areas: AMA

“While all Australians will benefit from e-health initiatives, innovative technology and information systems will pay off big time in rural areas,” Dr Pesce said in his first address to the National Press Club in Canberra.
“Until we see dramatic improvements in the attraction and retention of rural health workforces, patients’ access to health services can be improved through telemedicine.”
Dr Pesce said the AMA strongly supported moves to make electronic health records a reality.”
