Beyond EHRs in a small physician’s office

“I was talking with Kim LaFontana, vice president of Ingenix, about the company’s recently released results of a survey of 1,001 physicians on EHR adoption. While 82 percent of respondents cited cost as one of the top three risks for EHR deployment, disruption of workflow was right behind cost at 74 percent.
Vendors are innovating with new business models (pay as you go, monthly subscription fees) and IT models (hosted, software as a service) that are less expensive to implement. With hosted models, small physician offices need not worry about maintaining the system.”
