Hospital makes care connection

“Imagine being admitted to the hospital and reporting your allergies, prescription medications and past surgeries once – or not at all – rather than at every stage of your stay.
That’s the bottom-line goal of the $400 million nationwide electronic health-care records network that Saint Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital in Howell is now connected to.
The system, known as Genesis, keeps a running record of patient conditions, surgeries and data accessible by nurses, doctors and hospital pharmacies. That means new patients report their basic health histories once, and the same information is on file when they return.”
