Expert panel advises countries against becoming “e-isolated”; patients takes center stage in future healthcare

“In a panel discussion hosted by former Spanish Minister of Health Prof. Bernat Soria at eHealth Week 2010 in Barcelona, experts called for a patient-oriented approach to healthcare, stressing that we can no longer ignore the fact that the public has more access to technology than healthcare professionals.
“Clinicians are just beginning to realize the benefits of allowing patients to be partners in their care,” said Libby Morris, General Practitioner at NHS Scotland and member of the Scottish Government eHealth Directorate. “But it’s a change of culture,” she said.”
