‘Meaningful Use’ EHR Critera Questioned

“Specialties such as ophthalmology and surgery are not well served by the new “meaningful use” regulations for providers using health information technology, according to a member of the HIT Policy Committee at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The problem is that the new regs don’t have enough measurements that apply to specialist physicians, said committee member Gayle Harrell, a former Florida state legislator and the wife of a retired Ob/Gyn.”
