A critique of adoption models for HealthIT

“Many years ago, I took on the role of process improvement leader at the company where I was developing linguistic software. We spent a good deal of time learning about ISO-9001 and the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model as described in Watts Humphrey’s book: Managing the Software Process.
John Moore of Chilmark Research had recently recalled the book to me in his post on developing a maturity model of Healthcare Information Exchange. HIMSS Analytics has a similar model for EHR Adoption. I happen to have a copy of Watts’ book on my shelf, so I cracked it open again.”
