Electronic records a pain

“Despite federal incentives to encourage doctors to computerize their patient records — and penalties that kick in for failing to do so — an astounding number of doctors are questioning the government’s orders.
“What you want to avoid is becoming a data-entry clerk instead of a physician — particularly in a small practice,” said Dr. James Kenealy, an ear, nose and throat specialist in Framingham who has had difficulty finding a system tailored for his practice. “I don’t know if I’d want to do it if it weren’t being thrust upon us.”
