Can You Leverage a Hospital for Technology?

“While the latest technological advances can help today’s medical practices become more effective and efficient, the upfront costs to purchase a new piece of medical equipment, EMR software, or even iPads, can be too much of a burden on a tight operating budget. One way that medical practices can ease that burden is to partner with a hospital or a larger healthcare organization and share the costs.
“It seems like the medical field is going through what the manufacturing field went through 20 years ago,” says Kim Raderstorf of Columbus, Ohio-based Partners in Performance, which represents medical practices in the implementation of technology. “They’re becoming smarter in how they do business and are trying to cut costs. As a medical practice, when you try to leverage a larger healthcare-based system for technology, it’s a win-win situation and in the end you are delivering better quality of care and safer care as well.”
