Unease over patient website

“Concerns have been raised about a social networking site where patients can compare symptoms and treatments even though it has the potential to become a revolutionary tool for medical research.
In an article in this week’s MJA, Associate Professor Lyndal Trevena, of the Sydney School of Public Health at the University of Sydney, describes the PatientsLikeMe website, which enables people with various health conditions to create a profile to record and track their health over time.”

  1. Is it just me or is this article (about PatientsLikeMe) almost charming in its naivete and… dare I say it… ignorance?

    The article’s content seems to be several years (well, maybe 2) behind the awareness of everyone else who’s been looking at it. Si? No?
