“Ontario parents will no longer have to rummage around for moth-eaten yellow immunization cards. A new digital record-keeping system stores the information at their fingertips – on the iPhone. ImmunizeON, a new iPhone app, was created by the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. It also works on iPads and is expected to be available for BlackBerry and Android mobile devices next year, as well as for other provinces.
“People hate those yellow cards,” says Dr. Kumanan Wilson, an immunization expert who came up with the idea after a neighbour complained about the antiquated paper system that frequently leaves parents scrambling and public health officials chasing them.”
